You can really tell the company is getting back into the habit of writing EODs. Usually it takes one of us editors to pop out a post on our internal forums towards the end of the day and do a little prodding later on to make sure we get them. However, having been ensconced in meetings all afternoon until about 10 minutes ago, I haven’t done any of the usual posting and prodding. So, with some trepidation, I went to have a look to see if anyone had thought to post out what they’d been up to and I’m pleasantly surprised!
Catherine from QA was the plucky one, who started things going
A day on problems for me in QA today. I’d forgotten how much fun but also how busy it can be, as my jabber window fills up with test requests and questions from half the business. Gary has been working on some bug fixes and the mystery of ticket trees on staging as well as pondering Canadian Ham flavour crisps (apparently, it’s plain old bacon.) Gavin has been working on automating how we report our key performance indicators all day, so we can keep better tabs on how successful the team is day to day and week to week. Stephen came in wearing a lovely golfing jumper but strangely it disappeared early on in the day, perhaps to let him stay cool for dealing with the problems we have in live monitoring among many other tasks. Nigel has once more been slaving away on Plan 9 From Outer Space. It’s pretty good but we have to keep the wraps on it for just a bit longer… Lastly, since both the Matts are off, Paul has been working on the same project he’s been on for a few days, which is improvements to our product management.
Today’s random fact: if you ever find yourself making a chainmail skirt, it’s best to make the under layer from leather, not cotton.See you tomorrow!
Dan Danger P (he wrote that, not me!) from Networks next
Many things have been progressing and further development planning has been undertaken, Carl has been making RADIUS changes for the new VISP’s under our control JLP/MAAF ready for a new WBMC (Wholesale Broadband Managed Connect) host link. Ben has been working on build documentation for our internal services. Denis has been working on firewall cluster building for the SA callcentre. Josh had an early start a 2am! to roll some RADIUS updates and portal changes as well as getting some project documentation done. Kev Awesome Rolled the new Just The Name (JTN) webpage out. All the rest of the team have been doing the usual day-to-day tasks like dealing with customer tickets, problems, monitoring and making general improvements.
Until next time
Last of the pro-active three deparments is Matt from Comms
Well today has been a day in which things have happened.
Bob got a new laptop and is still angry with everything.
Chris has spent the day doing fault tickets and has morphed into the monstrosity that is Friday Parr a day early.
James has been doing prov tickets.
I’ve been working faults and have had a couple of meetings, and have been staggered by the amount of iPlayer traffic we have been getting what with the olympic coverage and all. I suspect that the whole debate will kick off again very soon, especially with the HD content now being made available.
Other than that, not really a lot to say - there will of course be an update tomorrow.

Right, that’s that then. I’m off home now, and I have tomorrow off. Hurrah! ![]()
No sign of EODs from Products, e-marketing, Development? Too *busy* ?! And was the Directors contribution ever discussed?!
