End of Day: 31st July

July 31st, 2008 at 17:30 by Rupert Jones

The end of the world is nigh! Or at least, that’s what it looks like out of our window, with the sky glowering, the rain cascading down, and it feeling like it’s almost night at 3pm! We all remember what happened last year when we had torrential rain… :-(

Jane’s Appeal End to End Challenge - Day 21

July 31st, 2008 at 09:26 by Mike Tomlinson

Wednesday 30th July, Launceston to Newquay

44 Miles

Yesterday’s ride took us from Launceston to Newquay and the first six miles took us nearly an hour and a half. It would probably have been quicker to have been sat in a supermarket trolley and been pushed. It was caused by three flat tyres and adverse weather conditions. The weather conditions lasted all day and only the last hour was done in anything other than driving rain. More…

End of Day: 30th July

July 30th, 2008 at 17:57 by AliMcGowan

Good evening one and all. It’s Ali here in Development and for your delight and delectation I have the End of Day update. Sorry not to have an update on my tea making performance of late but the statistics are so poor they are not worth publishing. I am burying my bad news. Today for example I didn’t even obtain a mug until after lunch More…

Jane’s Appeal End to End Challenge - Day 20

July 30th, 2008 at 12:01 by Mike Tomlinson

Tuesday 29th July, Tiverton to Launceston

55 miles

Yesterday’s leg involved numerous hills, torrential downpours and multiple punctures. We had six punctures, bizarrely always on rear wheels.  For most of yesterday the wind was also against us. All in all, it was a long day. More…

Howsit! Over a month has gone since I made Durban my home, so this feels like a good time to give you an update on progress with the support teams for our sister brands, here in South Africa.

Here’s a question for you: what’s the difference between Technical Support and Customer Service? The answer here in Durban at the moment is, a lot! More…

Jane’s Appeal End to End Challenge - Day 19

July 29th, 2008 at 09:51 by Mike Tomlinson

Monday 28th July, Wells To Tiverton

55 Miles

Today was a fast day on the road and for once we finished in a respectable time, completing the 55 mile cycle in just over three hours on the road. The negative side of this was that the route took us on some A-roads and the day was functional as opposed to aesthetically pleasing. More…

July 29th, 2008 at 09:45 by Mike Tomlinson

Sunday 27th July, Marlborough To Wells

56 miles

It’s the law on the ride that when the TV cameras aren’t here we have an action packed day. This morning we had a Tour de France style crash. We have been joined on the ride by my brother-in-law John, his daughter Lol, 9, riding on a trailer bike with him, and my nephew Jack, 12. More…
