And then.. it was the end of Monday already. What has everyone been doing? Let’s find out shall we?
Starting off in Networks for a change, Sarah has this run-down for us:
It’s been a fairly peaceful day in Networks today (so far). In addition to the usual general admin, tickets, JTN / PAYH support, platform monitoring and problems, some of the other things we have been working on have included:
Josh: PCI cleanup tasks, project workshops
Denis: More work on MPLS link to SA and old load balancers replacement
Richard: Documentation (in addition to platform monitoring)
Geoff: Helping Dan fix a WiFi issue. Looking at IronPort with Ade. Working with the Java guys to get the jboss upgrade tested. While also trying to debug a Cryptocard issue
Rizwan: Fixing broken servers
Sounds like a busy day in Networks. Over to a busy CSC where we join Ben:
It’s been a busy day in the CSC, with well over 1000 calls answered – every single one within 10 minutes of the customer calling in so a big round of applause is due all round. There’s nothing out of the ordinary in the top 5 for today, but here they are…
(1) Router setup – We’re seeing a large number of customers migrating in to us from other providers and some of them need our help removing old Internet connections from their computers before they can get online with their new hardware. Some just need help entering their username and password whereas others need to be talked through removing USB connections and help with their wireless connections.
(2) Fault updates – Since recent articles in the news and on our own blogs there is a much greater awareness of expected broadband speeds. This is putting a larger than normal load onto our fault team who have been busy identifying the cause of these faults and working on resolutions. Customers are taking advantage of our SMS service which lets them know when we have further information, asking them to call in for an update.
(3) Email setup – An old classic, we offer free email addresses with all of our accounts and customers often need a helping hand pointing them in the right direction for creating mailboxes and then setting up their accounts within their favourite email client.
(4) Username / password verification – Customers often need to be reminded of their password for setting up new email addresses or managing all aspects of their account through our portal.
(5) Provisioning updates – We’re still taking on new customers thick and fast and many of them can’t wait 7-10 days for their broadband to be activated. However, we’re always more than happy to check on the progress to keep them updated if they can’t log into the portal to check.
The Usergroup has been with us today; as Martyn in Marketing tells us:
Today we had the pleasure of a visit from the PlusNet Usergroup, which took up much of the afternoon and led to some really interesting discussions. In the morning I had 3 other meetings to go to, so it’s been a day away from the desk which is actually quite nice for a Monday. Amy has been working on spreadsheets and drafting emails, while Spencer has been working on some homepage updates.
Comms have been very busy and haven’t been able to write anything sensible for us I’m afraid. And as for me? What have I been doing today? Nothing terribly interesting I’m afraid.. just planning out what our teams are going to be doing for the week. And guess what.. it’s another busy week ahead of us.
