Ah, nearly the end of another week and a very hectic day it seems for some reason. Not sure I’ve done anything I thought I was going to do today. Still plenty of time left I think before it’s time to go home and watch The Daily Show on More 4 and The Colbert Report on FX. Highly recommended viewing, just need to get Phil Hendrie on the radio now.
Anyway enough dillydallying let’s kick off the end of day and we’ll start today with Amy from Marketing:
Chris has been working on an “uber” spreadsheet for the cancellation survey today – as if he hasn’t enough of them already in the last couple of weeks!!
Martyn and Spencer have been doing much of the same as in recent days to be honest, looking at banner ads, home page designs – too much to do!
And I have been composing some emails, clearing out a few tasks and updating some best practices – one of those admin/ad-hoc days. Ooh and reading some positive press on PlusNet this wee k- more to follow in our weekly round up of “PlusNet in the news” tomorrow.
Hasta Luego
Next up is Richard in Networks:
Today has been another normal day in Networks:
- The JustTheName and Port995 team have been working on normal customer issues and preparing to decommission some old systems.
- Sarah, Ben and the rest of the problem crew have been working on internal problems and applying security updates.
- Simon has been improving our internal backup strategy.
- Dennis and the network development guys have been working to improve both our internal security and our international connectivity.
- The systems development team have been building new database servers to support the main plus.net web portal.
- Finally, hero Duncan has been visiting our various datacentres fixing small issues here and there (praise-be to redundant pairs of devices!).
So, all-in-all, just another busy in the office.
Matt’s got the Comms End of Day:
Bob – still away, the fiend. Hope he’s having an ace time with all that sunshine and beer.
Chris – Handling Networks comms on his own stunningly. Also has been off the energy drinks recently, which on the one hand is good because we don’t get him singing at us but on the other means that I get other songs stuck in my head which can often be more annoying.
Mand – Spent most of the day (when not in meetings) on the phone dealing with some very knotty issues and as a result developed a pounding headache. Fortunately a bag of Tangfastics helped alleviate the troubles of the last hour somewhat. She’s still a hero, though.
James – Sales calls, probably. We’re still denied the pleasure of his company here at Comms central.
Me – Problems, some forums, and a few other knotty customer issues along with the obligatory meetings.
I think that’s that – here’s a random link to keep you entertained. It’s Weezer’s new video! Anyone who knows anything about viral videos will be forced to laugh… I certainly was. Good song, too.
And then from Web Dev today….
Thanks James… I think.
And on that note it’s the end of another end of day but fear not we’ll back again in approximately 24 hours with the next installment.
