June 11th, 2008 at 17:51 by Kelly Dorset

One more sunny day
Is this it for the summer?
On with the updates

Bedders from Networks:

Today we have all been working on problems in our pool as first priority but also the following over and above that:-

  • Aaron – Tickets and holding the fort on support whilst partner in crime Kevin is in London preparing for a data centre move for Parbin tonight
  • Dan – Tickets and Abuse monitoring
  • Ian G – System configuration, script writing and Radmin configuration
  • Michael – Staging Improvements
  • Riz – Change controls and IWF cache problem fixes
  • Russ – Monitoring the platform and some monitoring improvements
  • Bedders – Mostly problems with a touch of data centre move planning
  • Josh – BV phase 2 work
  • Ben – Waitrose P1 and some customer homepages apache configuration
  • Carl – brightview ph2, sharedband, ellacoya, data center
  • Mike – ITW and Email filtering
  • Denis – MPLS work for link between UK and SA (Brightview)

Also we have Ian W, Dunk, Rick, Kev and Matt in London, they are putting the final touches to their plan for moving Parbin out of their legacy data centre and into one of ours tonight.

James from the CSC

  1. Router configuration – Always a favourite; a lot of calls today from people who have either have just received their equipment and don’t feel comfortable with setting it up themselves, or people who have purchased new equipment and want to confirm the settings.
  2. New faults – We have received quite a lot of calls today from people with new faults. There has been no pattern with these but a lot of intermittent faults which have been quite likely caused by stormy weather in parts of the county.
  3. Fault updates – The usual amount of calls from people calling for an update on their outstanding fault, although people are aware of the time scales involved there is an ever-increasing reliance on the internet meaning people really miss their connection when it’s not working.
  4. Email set up – This is usually a follow on from router configuration calls, people who are wanting to set up their email account on their PC who either aren’t aware of the guides available on our website or who don’t feel comfortable with working their way around their computer.
  5. Provisioning updates – A number of customers calling to see when they will be on line.

Next up, James from the Web Dev Team

A quick round up of the teams activities today

  • Andew and Duffy – P1 investigation and fixes

  • Pete – problem chasing and managing
  • Kelly – has been looking at wire frames and at various POMS tasks
  • Rupert – working on email improvements
  • Dan – working on a new support feature
  • Colin – some planning for PUGIT related items, assisting Duffy with a problem, and raised some review tasks
  • The Projects Team (Wojtek, Grzegorz, Nick, and Mark) – Brightview phase 2 bug testing and fixing

I’ve been preparing the Twitter plugin for it’s open source release, troubleshooting users issues with the Flickr plugin, and updating a draft post about an upcoming feature to the Community Site

All done. Have a nice evening!

Kelly
