It’s Monday and what a busy day we’ve been having. I say that knowing full well that that’s what we say every day. But I’m not feeling inspired enough to come up with anything as an alternative, and I’m knackered, so let’s see who else has been busy bees today.
James in Comms:
So we’ve almost managed to get the Monday feeling out of our systems and we’ve been cracking on with all things Comms. I’ve managed to find my way back to the Comms Desk with the aid of GPS and I’ve mainly been catching up with the weekend happenings on our forums. I’ve also been doing a spot of Account Management work.
Chris has been bouncing up and down between the Comms and Networks floors. He’s been handling Network Change Controls, doing some relay policing, posting in our forums and making some service status postings. Mand meanwhile has been pretending to be Bob, but only in meetings. She’s also been dealing with problems, Development Change Controls and some various Home Phone Tasks.
Cameron from Development:
Back into work following a busy weekend entertaining the visiting parents and digging up Brussels sprouts at the allotment whilst we have some sun in Sheffield.
Work continues on signup updates for new versions and amendments to existing ones. We’re currently also working on improving the upgrade process so that it has the same user journey as the signup process which should make it easier to follow and also maintain.
One of our main projects is into phase 2 and most developers are working on at least some part of it. Otherwise everyone else is on their own projects or fixing live code issues.
Chris from CSC:
Well today has not been too bad for a Manic Monday in Customer Service. There has been fewer calls and tickets so we have had more staff to help out in the provisioning team to help customers get their orders on time.
We have also been able to help out the cancellations team, meaning that we can process tickets more quickly. Although that means if the Call Answer Rate (CAR) is not good, then I will be walking the plank!! (Avast there, ye be talking like a pirate and setting me off me hearties! – ‘Any excuse to talk like a Pirate’ Ed)
We have also had 2 newbies in the 2nd week of training in the Customer Services team which are currently being ‘buddied’ by experienced members of the CS team. I think they have taken to the role very well and I can see a bright future for them at PlusNet.
So then it is so far so good (touch wood) this week for life in the CS department.
Top 5 issues for today is:
Martyn in Marketing:
What’s happened in marketing today then? Well, we’re working on some new banners for the homepage and also on an email to promote Home Phone Anytime+. There’s also been a bit of PR work and some admin for a partnership deal that we have with Sheffield Wednesday.
Tim’s been working away at building a couple of new landing pages and Tero has, as always, been crunching numbers and creating graphs like there’s no tomorrow. Hopefully there will be a tomorrow, and we’ll be back to mark it with another end of day.
Catherine in QA:
I suspect my brain may actually be melting after a day trying to write the testing plan for my next project. I can only take my hat off to the BAs who produced the admirably clear document I’m working from – it would have been far worse without that! We’ve been having a bit of a crunch on test plans actually, as we’ve all been catching up on things we need to do by the end of the month.
There’s also been some fun with our testing platform as it seems a bit shy today and doesn’t want to come out to play. All in all, it’s been a fairly typical Monday – and I had a tea-cake this morning so I can’t have any chocolate now! It’s a hard life, you know…
Last, but certainly not least.. it’s Gricey in Networks:
Hi there, Gricey again with today’s Networks EOD. It’s quite late so I’ll just say that it’s been a fairly typical Monday. We had a new starter to the team (Neil) who will introduce himself to you guys soon. He’s Team Leader for the Staff that concentrate mostly on tickets.
Myself, I’ve been working with Simon B on adding more DR to the Brightview mail storage platform (which, like ours, is NetApp-based). We’ve also been putting the finishing touches to the documentation for our new centralised backup platform. I’ve also been working with Kevin, our Project Manager, on some of the finer points of a project I’ll be working on soon, which adds further resilience to the databases that are used by our Ellacoyas.
Busy, busy, busy.
P-j
You said busy, thats a forefit! (if thats how you spell it?)
Well, you've got all the right letters in the word... just in the wrong order!
