Postini Anti-spam Update

February 1st, 2008 at 12:00 by Bob Pullen

You may recall back in November we announced our partnership with email security experts Postini. We’ve steadily been migrating customers across to the new anti-spam platform and we now have just under three quarters of our customers with their email being filtered by the new Postini systems.

Feedback has been largely positive and with the help of our customers we’ve been working hard to iron out some of the teething problems.

Last week we made some improvements to the spam filtering rules and next week we’re hoping to move the remainder of our customers across to the new platform.

We recently published an up to date overview of the migration to Postini and our future plans for the platform over on the Comms blog.

Bob.

I have found this very good ,Spam is now down to NIL from 30 per day a few weeks ago.

Great improvement, thanks. I'm down from over 30 per day to one every other day. Would you like to receive copies of spams that are still getting through, together with their internet headers, to improve the Postini filtering?

have not received any E-mail for over 24 hours, although expected an adobe code last night. what's happened?

Brilliant - my spam had peaked at over 200 a day, a real pain when you have to download all of those in a hotel somewhere so you can get to the few emails that you actually want. Since mid-January I'm down to below six a day, which is tolerable/

According to my email headers my account has been tranferred to Postini - I am receiving as much if not more SPAM as ever (around 30 per day) despite having implemented months ago all the anti-spam steps advised by Plusnet. Very disapponting and not good enough.

Chris

Hi David,

Are these messages being tagged as [-SPAM-]? What options do you have selected in the Manage My Mail tool?

@David,

Also make sure that *all* the emails are going through Postini. We moved some customers earlier this week and it can take 7 days before email taking the old route is blocked:-
