Because it's not a carol though you don't hear it much - indeed, I was only first exposed to it when singing some Christmas songs in a choir with my school three years ago. (We even did some singing in Trafalgar Square under the big tree there... which was fun but very cold!) Btw, I see the abbreviation definition thing's popping up... if I may, I'd like to suggest that it only appears on the first instance of any particular word in a blog post, as otherwise, when the dictionary gets added to and lots of words are defined, half the post will find itself being underlined.
