End of Day: 11th December

December 11th, 2007 at 19:03 by Colin Ogilvie

Turkey Tuesday today at PlusNet, with our catering staff providing us with a Three Course Christmas lunch today. Away from having a very enjoyable lunch, we have actually been doing some work.

Catherine from QA:

“So, what have we done today? Well, after a session working out how the torture machine multigym works, I’ve joined Matt R, Gary and Nigel testing Madasafish bugs again, as well as talking to networks about projects we have in the pipeline. We’re really making an impact on the bugs, ably helped of course by the many people from across the business who’ve been thrown in at the deep end to help us with testing, and have all done very well. This QA lark’s not as easy as it looks, y’know.

And, of course, the highlight of the day has been our superbly tasty Christmas dinner, prepared and served by our wonderful kitchen team of Paul Kath and Jude. They really did us proud!”

Chris from Comms:

“Comms, comms, comms – so good they named it 3 times!

Today has been a typically busy and hectic day for us. With only myself, Bob and James in the building we’ve had to make sure we are spread around all areas.

James has once again been with the CS team helping them out with any questions, he’s been busy over on our forums and also ThinkBroadband.

I’ve been clearing out some task work and sending training tasks to the entire CSC (I’m sure they hate me now!). I’ve also helped to deal with a couple of tricky queries and spent some time around in the forums.

Bob has been upstairs with the networks team continuing to keep tabs on the Postini feedback and preparing the next batch of comms on this.

We also received quite possibly the strangest ever present courtesy of ex-comms member, Liam Martin. However we aren’t entirely sure where we can put a wormery on our desk!! Thanks anyway Liam. ;)

Darren from Products:

“Today seems to have gone very fast, probably because it’s been extremely busy. Today I have been working on some hardware stock issues and finally getting things moving once again. I have also helped QA out with testing and undergone some more training for Marketing.

Shaun has been mainly working on Madasafish reporting and usage analysis. Ian has been working on Usenet outsourcing arrangements and helped preparing for our next company rally and Rich has been extremely busy working the VoIP platform.”

Simon from Development:

“Hi here. Today I’ve mainly been focused on helping co-ordinate bug fixes and live rollouts for Madasafish – making sure the right people are working on the various bugs and that our newer developers continue to expand their exposure and understanding of our codebase.

In addition to supporting Madasafish, I’ve been helping with recruitment a little, talking with a candidate about their technical experience and what it’s like to work here at the PlusNet towers. We’re still hiring PHP/Java developers and web designs, checkout our careers site if your interested.

Also, special thanks go to our A* catering team, Paul, Judy and Kath for the three course, transitional Christmas dinner they served for launch today. I’m convinced, more than ever before, there’s a direct relationship between what we eat for dinner and the number of bugs fixed”

That’s all folks,

Colin

Don't put the Wormery on the desk, put it next to your nearest bin ... or something... :-)

Be nice to the Worms!

Chris

We were thinking of feeding Bob to the worms...

James

Might be a good way of getting him to make tea.
