It’s a late End of Day today, I’m posting this from home after leaving the office to rain just after 6.
We begin the updates today with Ian from the CSC:
“1. New Faults.
There has been a general increase in new fault reports. No particular patterns have been noticed, though there seems to be a general consensus that intermittent and speed issues have increased. This could well be due to the weather which has got significantly colder recently.
2. Fault Updates.
Likewise with above, there have been a steady influx of calls from customers responding to fault updates, either having run additional troubleshooting or responding to messages or calls from us.
3. Router Config.
New customers as always calling up for assistance with their router configuration. Many of these do have genuine problems with the configuration of their computers, and others just need a hand in getting started.
4. Email Issues.
Generally new customers that are having trouble with their email setup or are having conflicts with antivirus and firewall software.
5. Sales Calls.
As always, a steady number of sales enquiries and signups are coming into the CSC.”
Rowan brings us the update from Dev today:
“While the rest of development has been busy working with Madasafish, Ben and I have been pushing the first project from our remote team over in India through the beta testing process. It’s been a pretty intense time letting us build up a solid (and ongoing) relationship with the guys over there, increasing our own development capacity, and making some massive improvements to our internal dev. tools. Once we’ve squashed the last of the bugs, we should be on track to roll out next week and finally show the rest of the company what we’ve been up to for ages now!”
Marketing comes from Chris today:
“It’s been another busy day for Team Marketing today with plenty of work going on as part of the MAAF project (surprise surprise!).
I’ve also had the important job of looking after the free computer games for our new BBYW Pro signups and have added the next installment of our festive blogs. I’ve also launched a new competition as a bit of fun for Christmas – and you can win a months free broadband!
Martyn and Spence have been busy working on the BBYW journey as well as dedicating a fair amount of time to the MAAF work.
Over and out.”
QA’s update comes from Matt who brings us a worthwhile reminder…
“A different voice from QA today to give Catherine a break. This is Matt.
I may as well start with myself today. I’ve been working with Rowan and Ben from Development on our new internal meeting system that will hopefully help us stay organised as ever. Not exciting but very useful. ‘Nuff said
As usual at the moment there’s still the big push on Madasafish for everyone else. Paul, Catherine, Gary and Nigel have been hard at work, with Steve cracking the whip. We’ve also had a special guest from the CSC with us today. John has been adding an extra pair of eyes to QA which have proved useful with Gavin and Matt R off at the moment.
12 more working days til Xmas…
“
Comms brings us more stories of Tea with this update from James:
“We’re getting on towards the end of the week in Comms (and presumably in other areas of the business too!) and we’re all working hard!
Bob’s been doing his usual work on our trials, network change controls, problem reviewing and service status posting.
Mand has been dealing with development change controls, keeping an eye on the internal problem process, some personal tickets, home phone queries and updating some projects internally.
I’ve been sitting with a couple of our new starters in the provisioning team and helping them out with various questions. I’ve also been helping out some of the guys in the Customer Service team with some of their queries and ingeniously hiding from the webcams. I’ve been looking into some of our heavier users of our legacy Broadband Plus product. I closed one of my three month old personal tickets after BT moved them from one exchange to another and various people in my new temporary home have been making me tea
(Ed: They’ll need to be warned about that…)
Who needs Teaboy Taylor? “
A newbie to the End of Days (and the company) is Alex from Finance
“Finance has been extremely busy today.
Kate has closed the payroll and has also been processing corporate invoices.
James has been finishing off the month end file. Mark B has been working on the month end reporting and Mark J has been helping to sort out the P1’s and looking into leasing an envelope stuffer! I (Alex) have been working with QA regarding Madasafish.
This is my first post in the finance department.”
Ian brings us this update from the Products department:
“Another productive day in products, although the absence of Darren and Dave (who seem to have been granted holiday) was notable.
Rich has been working away finishing the product aspect of Madasafish and he managed to add 50 more people to the Voip trial and troubleshoot a Sip Sip issue.
Maria attended the BT Service review, which is where we get to hold our BT account managers accountable (Maria described the discussion as ‘Robust’, so that must have been good). She may by now have also performed my appraisal, although it’s nearly six o’clock and that’s still on the todo list.
We also spent time today looking at the future of our ‘value add’ services and we carried out some analysis of Domain Name commercials. All that’s before I even tell you what Shaun, our resident MIS guru, got up to – the list he gave me was huge. I told you it was productive!
Ian “
In the Web Team we’ve been working on Madasafish, doing some logos for the portal and working on the Referrals Mini Project in between times.
That’s all for tonight,
Colin
