Today’s the night of our Christmas Party, so it’s a short end of day today.
Today in the Web Team we have been putting in the effort to get our bugs for Madasafish resolved. We’re also happy to see that some code to make changing the portal logo easier has worked successfully, meaning that the St Andrew’s Day logo appeared auto-magically at the start of day, and will go away while we are out enjoying the Christmas Party.
Darren from Products gives us an update:
“A quick one today. Maria and Ian have been meeting with a supplier most of the day regarding the future of TR69. Shaun has been working from home and various different bits of work (largely churn), he also got a mention on radio1 this morning for naming the year of a song correctly (well done Shaun, ‘Working’ at home I see). Rich has been working on VoIP. Dave has been working on traffic management. I have been passing my work on to Shaun ready for my holiday next week and doing various works on Hardware.”
Jen from Finance brings us the update:
“Finance has been very busy today!!! We have all been working hard to get up to date for the xmas party tonight!!
A total of 50 tickets have been closed today by the team, leaving none for the weekend.
Finally, this is my last end of day posting as I’m leaving Plusnet. I wish everyone well, and I hope Plusnet continues to do well!!!”
Marketing’s update comes from Martyn:
“Today’s end of day doesn’t quite come at the end of the day, because we’ve still got the Christmas party to look forward to! It’s been all hard work pre-party though, as we continue to look at improvements to the Broadband Your Way sales journey and Chris continues to battle his way through various surveys.
We’ve also been working on an email about the New York referrals prize draw - there isn’t long left so if you want to enter you’d better start referring soon! Have a great weekend everyone, see you next week.”
Catherine brings us the update from our QA team:
“Yet more bug squashing on tha ‘Fish today as the deadline for rolling live comes ever closer.
So, what have we all been doing?
Nigel has, once again, been working on the various home phone services with Stephen.
Matt B came in early for a rollout and has been squishing bugs all day. He particularly asked me to mention today’s lunch: a semi-rare treat of baked beans! (Ed: Very nice they were too!)
Gavin has been sitting quietly in the corner with Gandalf, our QA Wizard, but also doing plenty of work on billing.
Finally, Gary has been so busy today on both Madasafish and another PlusNet based project that he was actually too busy to go out for a cigarette. Now that’s dedication.
And as for me, I’m just looking forward to tonight’s party. I can’t wait to see who’s come as The Stig! “
James updates us on all that is Comms:
“It’s been quiet on the Comms Desk again today.
I’ve been working with our new Customer Service analysts to help them out with various queries, so I’ve been away from the Comms Desk.
Bob has been working with Networks as he often does and has been keeping on top of Network changes.
Chris has been all alone on the Comms Desk, but he’s skiving off early tonight as he forgot to bring his gear for our Christmas Party tonight. So, he’s had two days off this week, off all next week and he’s going home early today. Cunning plan!
Mand and Teaboy Taylor will be back next week. Yay! “
John from Networks brings us the management update:
“Networks primary focus has been supporting the development department in the work required for the weekend rollouts, including the test roll for the Madasafish project.
Riz has been working on some scripts that can be added to all of our services to help us with the management of the software etc on those boxes so we can keep them all in sync.
Other than the above we’ve been on customer tickets and problems to help minimise any issues over the coming weekend. “
I hope everyone has a good weekend… I’m off to get ready for the Christmas Party (I’m not one of the people that are dressing up though).

Christmas party? It's not even (quite) December yet...
Christmas party, and the mods don't even get an invite.
*Looks around*
Actually, there's only me here ATM - are the rest of 'em down there partying?
You can have a New year bash next week then!
It was actually a party to combine our passing 200k customers a few months back and to tie it in with Christmas, hence why it was a bit earlier than usual.
Which is good because it means that I didn't miss it by going home this year!
Was a very pleasant evening and by many accounts there were a few sore heads!
Here at Plusnet we're always trying to use clever open source things to make our lives easier. Sometimes we write our own and make other people's lives easier too!
