A quick EOD update from us today.
First up, Catherine from the QA
We’re a bit thin on the ground here today, but via the miracle of modern telecommunications, we’ve been keeping the jabber windows open to chat with with our non-Sheffield based colleagues. It’s still amazing to me that modern IM services are so good that I can chat with people anywhere in the world in pretty much real time.
Anyway, on with the motley…
I came in early this morning to oversee some networks changes, then I even went to the gym before cracking on with RADIUS hash and alias testing.
Paul has been his usual jack of all trades, taking on bugs here, problems there and staging issues anywhere they’ve popped up. What a star!
Gavin has gone home early for tonight’s roll out - it’s all go round here you know - but before that fitted in some data migration testing.
Matt B has given the dancing elephants the day off to take a look at sign up, upgrades and house moves.
Nigel has been deep in a huddle with Stephen (not the boss
) most of the day, keeping his shoulder to the wheel with home phone testing. He also circumvented the vending machine by bringing in his own supply of Nik Naks but - tragedy! - only brought in Nice n Spicy!
Next, Darren from Products
It’s been a high spirited day here in Products. I have spent the day investigating a possible reporting issue with Dial accounts and identifying an issue with our Hardware ordering process. Shaun has also given me some very helpful training on MIS.
Dave finished his latest blog (I have started to read it and in true Dave fashion it is a very interesting read, so look out for that coming sometime today). He has been looking at the failed billing process and done an Ellacoya platform audit.
Rich has been working on VoIP; troubleshooting with trial users & Gradwell. He has also continued to work on the outsourcing strategy.
Shaun attended the Weekly KPI review with the rest of the team, made amendments and improvements to the dashboard, project work and various reporting requirements for Mad As A Fish.
A quick breakdown of the call and ticket stats from Mark in the CSC
Marketing update from Chris
Today I’ve been filling in question after question after question for an award questionnaire and I’ve been catching up on things I missed the last couple of days. We’ve created a new banner to promote the BBYW Pro game offer on the Ubisoft website and we’ve been penning an email to be sent out next week. Martyn has also been looking at the BBYW signup journey and looking at different ways that we can improve the experience. fin.
Matt is his usual hyperactive self in his update from Comm
Not such an exciting day, though we did all get together and have a jolly nice catch-up. Also for a change everyone was in the office! Chris was back from his absinthe-fuelled jaunts in Prague though he did break the LAW by not bringing back any comedy foreign sweeties. Mand was back in the office regaling us with tales of her Daughter’s Christmas list and also how canny she is - having worked out that you need to tell each relative something different when they ask you what you want, otherwise you get the same thing from all of them. James has had a haircut (Haircut! Haaaaaaaaiiiiiiircuuuuut!) and is looking a lot less shaggy. Bob has managed to drag himself in in spite of a nasty hangover, miracles may never cease - he made tea today!
Well, better tell you what we’ve been up to. More forums, surprisingly, and the catch up meeting that was highly edumacational. Some dealings with the Postini and VoIP trials on Bob’s part, along with his usual clandestine alien-related secrecy. Chris has been up with networks again, James has been chasing various tricky tickets and faults throughout the arcane and winding paths that such issues are destined to take, and I have been extolling the virtues of the PlusNet service on the Sheffield Forum for a fair portion of the day. Mand has mostly been chasing people over the processes involved with transferring Home Phone customers back to our own service from fully unbundled LLU platforms (10 geek points if you understood that.)
I shall sign off there, I think that’s quite enough of that. Thanks for reading all.

Have a nice evening!
