It’s Monday and nearly the end of the month and much more importantly, nearly the festive season (although pay-day and the Christmas Party are coming before hand!)
Marketing Martyn brings us the update for Monday:
“With 3 team members out of the office and Mark based down in the CSC, it’s been a bit lonely in the marketing team today!
Those of us who are here have been busy working on some print ads for a forthcoming Broadband Your Way Pro promotion, while our web analyst has been beavering away at his regular start of week reporting. I also attended a meeting on how we can get more customers to register here on the Community Site. We’ve got some good ideas, but feel free to add any suggestions to this EOD!”
Gary from our QA team brings us this update:
“Hi again, its Gary again here with the QA EOD
I bet you can’t guess what we have been doing today?….. yup, today has been another very busy day with Madasafish project testing. We’ve all been (apart from Paul) soldiering on testing bug fixes and ironing out new ones that we find.
Paul has been focusing on problems again and has been specifically trying to get as many Priority problems tested and rolled out to live. See http://www.plus.net/support/service/problems/index.php?supporta=priorityproblems as you can see he has done a sterling job
As usual the team have had problems sourcing Rib ‘n’ Saucy Nik Naks because the catering staff are refusing to relent on their mission to generally upset me in not stocking the vending machine with more. As a result I have had to take a small loan from Paul and decided to go for the more expensive Walkers Max variety, coupled with the Crispy Bacon Wheat crunchies I had this morning it has kept my energy levels largely sustained.
Bye for now.”
The Ed would just like to note that the Catering staff do a great job of keeping us fed throughout the day
Darren from Products brings us:
“‘I don’t like Mondays, TELL ME WHY?’ was the song we were singing in Products today (well me and Shaun at least and Shaun’s singing is enough to make you really hate Mondays). An extremely busy morning and it’s been one of those days where everything just doesn’t seem to go to plan. I spent most of the day doing reports for various departments and catching up with Fridays work. In the afternoon I have been looking at some of our Homephone and affiliate reporting.
Shaun has been working on churn, getting involved in the VoIP trial and taking finance through the company dashboard.
Rich has continued work on VoIP; this involves migrating the first 50 customers onto the platform, further diagnostic work with Gradwell via forums/email and working through VoIP related tickets.
Dave has been looking into the failed billing process, working through tickets, helping test our VoIP platform and continued to work on his next blog.”
Our next update comes from James in Finance:
“With today marking the start of the lead up to month end and being a man down we have had a busy day in finance.
Fiona has been updating the cash books whilst I have been concentrating on intercompany issues. Alex has been covering Mark J’s work as he has been off ill today, sorting through the post and completing the DD returns report.
Kate has been putting the final touches to payroll (which is good news for everyone) and Mark B has been in lots of meetings.
Today we have closed 126 tickets.
As it is Monday I am off sharpish tonight, until next time.”
All right for some…
Matt from Comms:
“It’s been a relatively quiet desk today, with only James, Bob and myself in. Doesn’t mean it’s been quiet on the work front though. I’ve been picking up the development change controls and problems in Mand’s absence, as well as sorting a few tickets and posting in a few forums, as normal.
James has been in meeting central today, occasionally coming out to dip a toe in PlusNet’s community waters (it’s always warm and friendly!) and also to deal with tickets he’s been assigned.
Bob. Well, Bob. I shall ask him what he’s been up to as he’s actually at his desk for once…
Hmm. He claims he’s been working on the Postini trial, and spamming people with planned maintenance announcements, but I’m sure I saw him at lunchtime talking into a very advanced looking cellphone and getting into a very sinister black limousine. Anyone know where to buy completely undetectable tracing devices?
Oh, almost forgot - I made the tea today. Just the one round. There’s only three of us after all.”
Emma brings us the following from the CSC:
“Today has been fairly quiet for a Monday, up until around half 9 it was steady with no queues, then it started to heat up shortly afterwards.
Our top 5 for this afternoon is as follows:
Number 1: Router configuration, now the final delayed routers are getting through to customers they are calling for help getting online for the first time, also lots of customers buying new routers for Christmas and needing assistance.
Number 2: Email - information being given out are client configuration, how to use the webmail, mailboxes and how this fits in with domains.
Number 3: Username and Password verification - customers checking on the details needed for either routers, email or just to login to their account on our website.
Number 4: Fault updates - this includes chasing us for information and starting new faults.
Number 5: Sales calls, lots of customers calling regarding home phone and the new BBYW packages, we give out advise, on getting new lines, contract period etc.
Many thanks”
Train Travelling Tam brings us the Web Team update:
“Tamlyn has tardily thrown off the beta tag on the speed tester tool at http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk - integration into My Account coming soon. James has been jollying up the journey for community site signup as he awaits authorization to proceed on his parallel project. Sam has been silently slogging away on some super secret seasonal sensation. But most of the masses have been moiling on Madasafish. Busy, busy in the final days. And as everyone expects, Playful PlusNetters adore alliteration.”
to which Piratical PJ responds “Silly Sausage”.
That’s all folks.
