End of Day 30th October

October 30th, 2007 at 19:20 by Colin Ogilvie

Preparations are under way for Halloween - remember to catch the Webcam’s tomorrow!

We’ll start today’s round of End of Days with Bob and the Comms Team update:

“We’ve all been keeping a watchful eye on the Critical Path graphs today following the roll-out this morning. Aside from a brief hiccup at midday we’re cruising along nicely now and our Networks team are in a good place to continue the work tomorrow.

James has been battling through a hefty product spec today detailing BT Wholesale’s up-and-coming WBC products (rather you than me James!), keeping tabs on the forums and handling some tickets.

Chris has been up with Networks handling change controls from a Comms perspective and Mand’s been looking after problem management including dealing with a particularly troublesome Home Phone problem.

I’ve been looking after Service Status and reading up on some of the future plans for the antispam platform.

Bob”

Mark with the Finance update:

“So what have finance been up to I hear you shout!

Well today has again been busy as usual with Mark, Kate and James working on the month end. Myself, Jen and Nick have been cracking away at the ticket pools closing a monumental 149 tickets so far.

Fiona has been looking after the failed billing team and the commercial team are still working on the strat plan.

Oh and today the whole team have been trying out various flavoured cookies. We recommend the blackcurrant ones, a bit out there but really tasty.”

Chris from Marketing brings us today’s update:

“Another busy day in Marketing, Martyn has been working from home whilst he has plumbers destroying his flat, I’ve been working on some new press releases and organising some calls with potential new advertising companies.

I’ve also prepared an email that will be sent later in the week.

We’ve been revising the way we work with broadband comparison websites and Mark has been preparing some sales proposals. He’s also very excited by the progress that the referrals project is making.

And we are all getting ready for some ghastly goings on tomorrow.”

Product’s regular correspondent Darren brings us today’s update:

“It’s been a little empty here in Products today, Maria is working from home and both Ian and Dave are on holiday. Today I had to scrape up all the energy I have since the flu has really drained me. I spent most of the day trying to resolve some Hardware stocks issues, continued work on modifying some of our KPI charts and done my first ever affiliate report. I will also be staying late to prepare PlusNet Towers for Halloween.

Shaun has continued his work on churn analysis, customer speed analysis, BBYW speed investigations, active base analysis, various ad-hoc reports for the business ……. Did I mention analysing stuff?!

Rich has continued work on the VoIP platform, this includes; developing a roadmap with a supplier, creating a project timeline and updating project specs. It might also be worth mentioning that he also got badly beaten by me at Point Blank during dinner (he’s no Nick Silverwood).”

Colin from the Web Team provides us today’s update:

“With Pete off enjoying a well earned rest, Jonny feeling a bit under the weather and Kelly also off on holiday, we’ve been continuing to work on our various projects. Rupert assures me that he’s making progress on the Referrals Refresh although his cursing as he breaks things gives a different impression (and elation when he then fixes it, of course) and the Content team have been working on various problem fixes and new developments for the support pages.”

Finally, we have Oliver from the CSC with today’s update:

” In the CSC Today:

(1) New Faults: Customers without Sync usually advising them of the correct checks (15%)
(2) Router Configuration: Still pleanty of customers unable to setup the BT voyager routers. This is usually down existing connections causing problems, firewalls and proxy settings (10%)
(3) Fault Updates: Customers being prompted via SMS or email to update their tickets (10%)
(4) Prov Updates: House moves, new activations customers chasing delayed orders and other customers calling for the activation date as they have no BB access (5%)
(5) Account changes: Customers wanting more information on the new BBYW packages and the disadvantages/advantages of changing over. (5%)

Other (55%) “

Remember and join in the Halloween fun tomorrow… we certainly will be in the office.

We haven't been told what we really wanted to know - did Bob celebrate the success of the CP roll-out by making everyone a cup of tea?

bobpullen

lol, sadly no and I'm upstairs with networks today too so it looks like the team may have to nominate somebody else again! ;)

James

So much for excellence in delivery :/

James

No tea from Bob today either :(

Actually, I think we all had a tea boycott! The HR lady that normally sits with us actually moved desk because Bob refused to make anyone tea!
