End of Day/Week 21st September

September 21st, 2007 at 18:03 by James

Hello there!  It’s that time of day and week again, it’s the end of day for the end of the week..

Apart from weekly pool victories for Bailey (6)vs(2) Wild and Parr (18)vs(16) Cotterill we’ve all been really busy, as ever. You’ll all have seen how we’ve been celebrating Talk Like A Pirate Day and our sucessful launch of our BBYW Pro, so it’s been a pretty productive week here at PN Towers!

Comms from Chris:

Today has been a hectic Friday for us over on Comms. James has spent most of his day in the forums, he also had a meeting for the ‘clear English’ campaign. Bob has spent his day up in networks again, mainly on work related to the email changes we made earlier this week. Mand has continued with problem management and also helping out in the forums. Matt has continued blogging and learning the problem management process. I’ve also been blogging, you’ll see this early next week, I’ve also continued with plans for our LAN party and gaming servers.

Products from Candidate Caig (aka Shaun)

It’s been a long week, with pipes, pirates and projects at the forefront of our minds. Some of the things we’ve achieved today include:

- reviewing customer e-mails
- account testing (customer experience)
- supplier meetings – watch this space ;)
- completed some key project work for the products team
- fixed weekly KPI reporting graphs
- updated competitor analysis sheet
- attended monthly update with business leads
- focussed on pipe utilisation
- further work on company dashboard

Have a great weekend everyone!

Finance from Mark

Today finance have closed 22 tickets, leaving 3 tickets outstanding which we will clear before leaving.

This morning Niki and myself (Mark) have attended the Directors review. This is where we highlight to the Directors what we will be working on in the coming month as a department.

Magda has been looking at ways to improve the number of sign ups that convert into activations.

Niki and Magda have also been looking over the development projects we will be undertaking soon.

We are all looking forward to the weekend.

Development, from Andy

I work in our Live Code Support Team (aka LCST) and I’ve spent most of today working on fixing faults with our Broadband Faults platform!! There are currently a number of outstanding issues with our Faults system which are slowing the Faults process down.
I rolled two faults problem fixes this morning; one fix stopped the Faults interface from blue screening (showing an error screen) and the other has fixed a problem whereby we were not closing a fault properly once a fault had been resolved.

The rest of my day has been spent on our Mock Services in our test platform. Mock Services are our way of mimicking a third-party response e.g. a message from BT or Tiscali. They help us to test our code before rolling it to our live platform. We are currently in the process of surfacing more Mock Services so that our QA team can test our software more efficiently.

Web Team

When you close a ticket you get the opportunity to rate the support you’ve received.  We’ve put live a new support page that lets you see how our customers rate us.  I’m sure you’ll agree that the guys and gals in our support teams do a cracking job.

Marketing has been having…

Another busy day here in marketing, but thankfully nobody in the team has come close to decapitating themselves (unlike yesterday!).

We’ve been continuing to work on Broadband Your Way Pro – putting the finishing touches to the email mentioned yesterday and also getting some external advertising out.

We also had an interesting chat with a representative of the Plain English Campaign, who popped in to see us this afternoon. Other than that we’ve been working on prototypes for some upcoming website updates – keep your eyes peeled for more news on these next week.  Have a good weekend everyone!

Well, that’s it from me, I’ve got to dash off and move house! See you all next week!
