I’m a big fan of sharing knowledge.

Why?

Because it makes everyone life easier. Why be the holder of a key piece of information or knowledge. Your only going to get called out at 3am in the morning or have to make do the same thing day in day out because nobody else can do it. It also means your not going to progress in your chosen career etc.

I’m also a great believer in there being more than enough people smarter than me in just about any topic I dare to choose

So - with that in mind. I’m organising a BarCamp in Sheffield on the weekend of May 25th / 26th.

Whats a BarCamp?

Its a social gathering based around a specific topic where the attendees are requested to contribute in anyway they can to share knowledge and create lasting relationships that they can continue to move forward.

Glad you asked. Its about Innovation on the Internet. A subject that I am deeply interested in and think there is a pent up demand in the UK (specifically the North of England) for.

So if your interested in learning new ideas / techniques or simply want to see what is happening out there at a grass roots level and have some information / knowledge you feel the group would benefit from come go to our site (http://www.barcamp.org/BarCampSheffield) and sign up.

The first day will focus on presentations by the attendees. The second day will focus on demonstrations of web apps / mashups. There are prizes available on both days for the best presentation / demo respectively.
